Amen. Math is not calculation.
I did not have a calculator in any of my math classes when I was in
high school
and did not need one. And I doubt if it would have improved my level
of
understanding.
I did however, use a simple calculator in my chemistry and physics
classes.
My first scientific calculator was a 1973 high school graduation
present from my
grandparents: an HP-65. (with the magnetic card strip reader). The
thing
cost $900.00 at that time (no joke!)
