That's actually very simple. Suppose that nature _wasn't_ consistent.
Then there would be a paradox. And from a paradox everything follows
as a consequence. Thus everything could happen. But we know that not
everything can happen in nature & we call this "the laws of nature".

Nature - or the real world - is the most consistent system that was
ever devised. It's astonishing complicated and amazingly consistent.

Has anybody of you ever looked outside the windows of your office ?

Physics is the study of that nature, the theory of it. Which is not
the same as nature itself. Unlike contemporary mathematics, physics
is always referring to something _outside_ it, and you should never
forget this (yet many of you do) when reading the mantra:

Read the _whole_ sentence. I'm talking about "A little bit of Physics".
Herewith I mean Physics at a very basic level, no GR, no QM, no black
holes, no quarks. Simple things, such as the fact that infinity cannot
be measured by any physical (read: bodily) device.
