When talking to atheists, it's perhaps wise to _replace_ "god" by "Laws of Nature". The advantage being that the latter is much less controversial than the first. But the net effect is the same.

Think about it: sinning against god, isn't that the same as jumping
from ten floors high and then complaining that you're going to die?

I mean, sort of. And for the purpose of these 'sci.math' debates.
And for _practicing_ that you are a loving, non-arrogant Christian.
