Because you say that your
N = 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + ...
N = 1:000...000(2)
but that your
2^N-1 = 1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + ...
2^N-1 = 0:111...111(2)
These appear to imply that
N > 2^N-1
and
N-1 = 2^N-1, so N = 2^N
which are contradictions.
