Something doesn't seem right here. I went to that site, but couldn't
find the image you are looking for.

The image is on the home page as soon as you enter the site.
This is the url:
http://www.amw1.com/images/Capture_00953-front.jpg

It is the central image on the web page and is 145,750 bytes, ie 145
kb.
This image can be converted to a text file and zipped down to under
1kb.

A recipient of that text file can reproduce the image from the contents
of the text file. Any text file containing 187,500 characters (ie
bytes) can be zipped to under 1kb.

It has nothing to do with jpg compression - it is just a simple fact.

You do realize this is a 24 bit image?

"there are 187,500 pixels which results in 187,500 numbers or
characters."

Which characters? Each pixel can have a value from 0 to 16,777,215.
How are you mapping 16,777,215 possible pixels to 256 possible
characters. And why are you comparing a image with 16,777,216 colors
to one with apparently 256?

Also that particular jpg has the quality-to-compression parameter set
nearly to highest quality/lowest compression. By changing that setting
to something more typical, the jpg is now around 37,070 bytes. And
that's still using 16,777,216 colors.

Anyway, I re-read your post and now I think this is a gag post. You
defintely don't understand what a text file is, or are pretending to.

Your 187.5:1 compression ratio is also absurd.
