JSH: MAD fails

I have wondered for years what top mathematicians were thinking.
They must have known that if I wanted to I could just do something like
solve the factoring problem and force the situation.
I wondered if they hated the world, but have decided that they believed
in MAD:
Mutual Assured Destruction
That is, I think they figured that I just wouldn't do it, as they
figured I'd get taken out along with them.
But I am a discoverer, of a long line of discoverers, without whom
history would not be as it is.
I had no choice. There was never a question of whether or not I would
put up the factoring solution eventually, if I saw no other way.
It was only a question of when.
