Re: Calculus Excess

Back when the MAA had a publication on instruction (a 4 or 6 page
newsletter or something), there was once an article written for it
on why the 1000-page calculus textbooks exist. It was written by
the author of such a textbook. I have since regretted that I did
not keep it. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Is this
little essay still available?
