(or at least in sci.math) is _not_ to use any special encodings.
OK. I'm glad my parents didn't name me Øyvind, Paul Erdős,
André or similar. :)
Moreover, we are all used to reading it in that form.
A convention is perfectly fine by me and I recognize it as the
valuable tool it is, and the rationale is easily understood.
Since you were probably unaware of the sci.math conventions, your
ignorance is easily forgiven.
