You people repeat what you've been taught like good little cows
following along with the herd.
My point is that the urgency with which math people follow each other's
tails is a very good indicator that they're TAUGHT conformity by a
system that only rewards those who can get other mathematicians to
claim that their research is good.
If mathematicians will not accept your work, then you have nothing in
that screwed up world of rule by committee--where math is a democracy.
Computer checking is long over-due.
But who checks the computers? The computer programmers. So the fate of
the truth is in the hands of computer programmers, not the
mathematicians. Still human beings, capable of error. No progress, JSH.
You people follow along like good little animals following the leader.
But the world needs intelligent human beings capable of THINKING FOR
THEMSELVES.
Something which can only be stated by someone who hasn't been through
the process. (a.k.a. Arguing from Ignorance)
If JSH were to actually make it to an advanced mathematics class, even
to an introduction to Number Theory, he would find out that in that
class, the students have to come up with the proofs (real proofs, not
JSH proofs) on their own. If they are unable to prove a result, they
fail the class. Two correct proofs count the same. The lecturer is
there to give suggestions on how to approach topics. The goal of the
class is to give students a small push in the right direction, but they
have to walk the rest of the way themselves.
