Like this thread is supposed to be about an idea for quickly generating
large primes, which is a simple idea. And readers should notice how it
has degenerated and look to see who did it!!!
[Rotwang]
Yes, let's do that. In the first post in this thread, you wrote...
[more whining from James]
So, in a thread which is "supposed to be about an idea for quickly
generating large primes", before anyone has had a chance to reply,
you accused people on this group of "juvenile behaviour", claimed that
they hate ideas because of where they come from, threatened to use
this alleged behaviour against them, accused them of "mak(ing) things
up", called them "cons" and accused them of "trying to keep people from
noticing how little they actually accomplish".
So tell us, who exactly is to blame for the degeneration of this thread?
You're missing a lot of it, because this thread didn't really start on
sci.math, and doesn't belong here at all. It started on sci.crypt, in
thread
How to Generator Prime Numbers in a short time ?
where a poster was asking about efficient ways to generate RSA-class primes
in the 1024-bit range. That /was/ a good thread, with lots of clear
relevant info, until James decided to *** in with his untested speculations
about generating large primes, using a method that /everyone/ on sci.crypt
(except the clueless OP, alas ;-)) immediately saw was utterly useless
compared to the efficient methods already discussed.
Responses were predictably negative, with strong advice to the OP to ignore
James. Of course James started his usual whining and threatening then,
started new threads about the same thing (including this thread), and
started cross-posting to (at least) sci.math, alt.math.recreational, and
alt.math.undergrad too.
If James were a first-time poster to sci.crypt, I would agree with him that
the strongly negative reactions were overdone. But his "pity poor me" act
doesn't fly given how often he previously blasted sci.crypt with equally
baseless speculation (and the attendant whines, accusations, threats, etc).
BTW, if you're a fan of James's surreal "projection posts", check out:

There he explains to sci.crypt's Tom St Denis what a troll is, and why Tom
is one but James isn't. It doesn't get much better ;-)
