Apparently for those of us who have never heard of this "Concrete
mathematics" "is a blend of CONtinuous and disCRETE mathematics"
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concrete_Mathematics) and is "based on a
course originally taught in 1970 by Donald Knuth at Stanford University".
Actually in a computer addition and division and so forth are done with
more simple operations, like change a binary 00100 into opposite 11011,
rotate through a register like 01101 to 10101 ( here two positions). Is
there an area of math investigating and making use of these kind of
simple operations directly ?
