Hey Moe, do you have a copy of
_Counterexamples in Real Analysis_?

I looked at the particular section you asked me to read. I don't know
what your point is regarding it (and it's been several months, so I
don't even remember the subject).

I thought you might want to discuss more the least positive real and
so on.

If you have a theorem to discuss from a particular set of axioms with
a particular set of inference rules, then I'll discuss whatever I
might (in my quite limited knowledge of mathematics) know about it.

With David, no, I do not have mercy, no.

But quite forgiving of yourself little doubt.

I've written an article I want to post to the ArXiV. I registered for
the submission but I think I need a posting sponsor for the ArXiV.
Otherwise I would need to have it refereed first.

I can imagine. It would be like asking a blueprint inspector to
explain why the plans for a skyscraper without beams or trusses won't
pass muster due to the design not taking into account certain pedantic
nits such as the force of gravity.

OK, I'm writing the request for discussions, and think these
newsgroups should be added:

sci.math.infinity <- As we have been discussing
sci.math.foundations <- For discussion of foundations,
that, er is maybe sci.logic.foundations
sci.math.formalized <- long extended proofs

Basically I justify the creation of sci.math.infinity in this way: if
the newsgroup was propagated, then a large bulk of the infinity
discussions could take place there, where they do take place as can be
seen in a traffic analysis over more than five years of sci.math
postings, and then all these applications in mathematics could have
higher visibility, and there would be no need of the sci.math.infinity
posters to reserve their comments to infinity on the thread.

Also, consider:

sci.math.applications <- questions about problems, novel methods
rec.math <- like rec.puzzles

I shall put them on the list.

If you have ideas for more, please send them.

Have a nice day,

Ross F.
