Suppose that a plane is traveling directly at you
at a speed of 200 mph at 3000ft, and you hear
the sound at what seems to be an angle
of inclination of 20 degrees. At what angle
should you actually look in order to see the plane?
Consider the speed of sound to be 1100ft/sec.
I can find the hypotenuse of the old triangle.
I can't find the hypotenuse of the new triangle.
How can I solve this?
The answer is 27 degrees but I am not sure
how my book got that.
