I am a student of mathematics and I have to, for my research, consult
some texts which are not available in English; the only way to handle
it is to learn the languages in which they are written. My mother
tongue is Bengali, an Indian language. I am more or less proficient in
English, at least I can write and comprehend English.
I have to learn the three languages Russian, French and German. The
most important one is Russian, for most things I need are in Russian.
It is not that I have decided to learn the language so that my Russian
speaking may be near native level accurate, or that I have to
communicate with Russian people in Russian. It is solely for the
URGENT need that I have to cover up the subjects that are hardly
available in English. So I need to learn it so that I may COMPREHEND a
standard textbook written in Russian.
Kindly advise me as to my next step. Which site, if sites are
preferred, do I have to go to, or which book, in case they are
preferred, ought I to follow?
Regards,
Saurav Bhaumik
many good russian math texts are already translated into english.
