Wow that's neat.
I see it was recently proved that any cube configuration is at most
26 moves from any other (in the same one of the 12 possible disjoint
orbits obtained by dismantling and reassembling the cube).
Anyone know if this upper bound is sharp. If not, I'd conjecture
that the LUB is 24.
