could you stop mentioning that over and over again? having one paper published in a journal of such low impact is absolutely nothing! everybody here has dozens of papers published in much, much better journals.

Really? What if those are actually crap journals?

How do you know?

Opinion, right?

But what if MOST mathematicians of today lie to pretend like they are
brilliant so that they can make money?

What is this stuff about "making money"? I think you really
misunderstand the situation. Most profs make their "money" by teaching
at a university or college. Unless you are one of the elite, it is my
experience that grants do very little in the way of providing much
compensation: they cover summer support for faculty, support students,
some travel, membership fees, etc. Even if every math prof stopped
doing research tomorrow, there would still be a need to teach all of
the math courses and their support would not be drastically changed.

The reality is that grants are really *more* work than most people who
have never been involved with research much (like yourself) realize.
When you realize that most people in math can do consulting jobs or be
expert witnesses and make more money for themselves, you understand
that the compensation received from a grant is not commensurate with
the amount of responsibility, time and effort that typically goes into
them. People do this because they like it, and the students that the
grants support and train are the ones that go on and continue to keep
the technology sector going THAT YOU FEED OFF OF.

In fact, without mathematicians, you'd probably be out there digging a
ditch right now or emptying a latrine, so you *should* get down on
your hands and knees and worship these brilliant individuals for
making up stuff you can do while sitting on your *** in an air-
conditioned cubicle.
