Not sure about the curve ... but you should look up
viscosity solutions. I believe you could get a
unique viscosity solution to the above.

Aren't viscosity solution are for non-smooth surface or for surfaces with discontinuities? So if I can't get unique solution for smooth function I will not be able to get unique with viscosity no?
