Re: JSH: What if I succeed?

Should I hide math for the good of financial markets to protect a math
culture that seems to be stupid on a scale hard to comprehend about
even the most basic mathematics?

Or let fly? I think I have no choice but to simply present the
research and let the chips fall where they may because the situation
is so unprecedented that there is no rulebook.

There simply is no right answer.

The consequences of James unleashing this potential knowledge on the
world are so great that we *should* consider what would happen. Here
is a vision I had in a dream last night about James and what *might*
happen.....

As he steps onto the floor of the trading floor, all activity ceases.
It is apparent even in the midst of all this chaos that *he* is
special, and that if they were smart, they would listen to him. As the
digits marching across the large overhead screens slow their progress,
and the slips of paper flying in the air finally lie still on the
ground at his subconscious demand, he straightens his impeccably
fashioned tie and clears his throat.
"Harris, ... James Harris"
Although everyone already know that this must be *him*, just the
mention of his name sends a small wave of whispers and startled
exclamations through out the crowd.

He continued, "As many of you no doubt know, I possess the world's
fastest factorization algorithm, capable of factoring numbers this
long", he stretches his arms out to what seems like infinity... "like
that" and like a magician, he collapses his palms together into a
sharp clap in a nanosecond. Everybody jumps.

James looks at the poor startled fear-riddled masses. Is it even worth
continuing? With a sympathetic sneer, he looks at the ceiling and
continues his monologue; at least this way, if God was listening, he
would have some intelligent conversation. Maybe.

"What of course you all fear is that this new weapon could bring down
the financial world as you know it. All of your cyber-security,
worthless", he hissed.

"Well, what should I do?" James asked the crowd. "I gave you a chance
to recognize my great contribution to the world. I gave you a chance
to repent and admit your rings were flawed. And what did YOU do, You
sold mathematical truth for 20 pieces of silver, you lied, and you
even shut down a mathematical journal! No, you could not accept that I
was so much better than you. That I was not just a genius, that I was
a SUPER-GENIUS!" His words echoed like thunder through the now silent
hall.

"You were so used to living in a world of lies that you did not think
there were consequences to your lying anymore, eh", he chuckled.
"Because you are so weak and so inferior, you did not realize though
that you cannot stop such greatness." Every head was now bowed down in
shame at the obvious naked truth. "But I knew. And the truth is what
gave me strength and kept me going all those decades."

"And now you force *me* to decide your fate, how ironic? Do I let you
go and see mankind continue down this vile, wretched path of ignorance
and lies or do I unleash my super algorithm on the world and sacrifice
this generation for those to come? Can I do something so catastrophic,
so unprecedented? Of course I can, for I James Harris. The question
is: will I?"

Will James unleash his super-duper factoring algorithm on the world
sending the financial markets into utter turmoil? Will the evil
mathematicians thwart him yet again? Stay tuned tomorrow folks, when
you'll here our hero (James Harris, aka "Super-Genius") exclaim :
"Eureka, I've got it."
