Are there such thing? Latex seems to be popular choice, except I don't
know how to use it.
Latex is the only game in town. Freeware links here:

Tastes differ, but I use MikTex plus its previewer (called Yap) for dvi
files. These easily make pdf's for distribution to the Great Unwashed.
