In french, the expression is 'encadrement' wich can be translated
by 'framing', by analogy with doors or window frame. But, does
the same expression holds for english-math ?

No.

As alternative suggestions: I'm pretty sure I've seen the words
"bracketed" and "enclosed" both being used in this sense. (Also
on occasion even "trapped".)

Certainly used by french-native speakers :-)
It is common expression in french, and seems to me usefull,
to avoid to repeat twelve times 'lower and upper bounds'...

However, I think that such usages
are informal, and would have to be explained, e.g. by giving
an example of the chosen usage in practice.

And it implies that no english speaker will blame me for
using 'lower and upper bounds', as would do a french speaker
in this context.

On the other hand, the word "bounded", although well-established
in this sense, is also unfortunately ambiguous (between meaning
bounded on both sides and bounded on one side only), as has
already been pointed out by other respondents.

OK.
