I can't believe the amount of spam on the NG's now.

I am using google's web interface to look at NG's and they do not
filter out any of the spam postings.

This has gotten so annoying.

I am surprised because the gmail spam filters have been working very
well.

This sort of thing is killing the desire to even want to look at the
NG.

One thing that makes newsreading a llittle better is a client-based
newsreader such as Forte Agent or MT-Newswatcher. The Web interface is
very slow. You have to open one article at a time. With a client-based
newsreader, for example, you can highlight and open all the messages in
a single thread, then glance through a lot of responses in rapid
sequence.

I honestly can't imagine using a Web interface to read newsgroups.
