It might, or it might not. It depends upon the terms of the insurance
contract and what the circumstances were. Though In either case
deciding what is fair doesn't depend upon whether I'm cheerful about
the outcome or not.

If I had insurance I would almost certainly be more cheerful than if I
did not, but at the price of having had to pay premiums in the past
(and will probably pay more in the future).

No matter what is decided, at least one and probably both of A and B
are not going to be cheerful about it. Sometimes things happen that
just plain suck.
