Since you have been unable or unwilling to produce any specific examples of
Eastern mathematicians who should be added to such a list, it would seem
that is where your best thoughts are produced. Oh, and yes, I know, that is
*my* opinion.
p.s. you wrote: "... I am always shocked when we try to start history in
the 15th century and reduce it to western history"
Alas, the usual teaching of history in the schools is
as bad as that of mathematics. Everything before
Columbus is usually ignored, although some go back
to the fall of Constantinople.
But written Western History starts at least as far
back as the Sumerians and ancient Egyptians, more
than 5000 years ago. Khufu, the pharaoh of the
great pyramid, was almost that far back.
I could also look up names and dates, but I can
offhand give at least a couple of dozen names which
I remember, and I never set about remembering names.
Well, these guys are part of Western history, but they are hardly 15th
century or later...
(624 BC - 546 BC) Thales : 78
(580 BC - 520 BC) Pythagoras : 60
(325 BC - 265 BC) Euclid : 80
(287 BC - 212 BC) Archimedes : 75
(262 BC - 190 BC) Apollonius : 72
(10 AD - 75) Heron : 65
(85 AD - 165) Ptolemy : 80
(200 - 284) Diophantus : 84
(290 - 350) Pappus : 60
(1170-1250) Fibonacci : 80
