Shortening the spam title

No, Randy, what you're doing is posting unwanted crap
that has nothing at all to do with mathematics.

It was already there. I did what I intended to do,
which was shorten the space the title of those threads
was taking in the display.

Given
that I've seen you do this more than once today, I
presume you intend to do it systematically.

Twice.

Which
would make you little better than a spammer yourself.

You liked the long titles better? I'm not quite
sure what your complaint is. Before I posted there
were X threads, two of which had huge title
lines. After I posted, there were X threads, but
no longer those two subject lines. In what way did
that cause a problem for you?

IIRC Phil has the whole of Google Groups killfiled, except for certain
authors, one of whom is you. So your reply to the spam posting will
have been the first time he saw it.

Similarly, I have filters in place which filtered out the orginal
message (so I never saw it), but not the renamed message.

Although, I guess I could just add "spam" to the filter list, as well
as "Re: spam", so maybe it's not a problem.
