Thanks for the review. I'll revise my post accordingly as I
see fit. Eventually, I'll repost with a revision.

BTW, the work we did with minimal ties and compact connected linear orders
seems of interest to somebody at the University of Ohio. Basically he's
wanting to extend the conclusions for long line segements to long rays and
long lines.

Now if you have a very long line, a compact connected linear order of
large cardinality, and put the end points together, do you get a long
circle or a wide circle? ;-)
