Dear Newsgroup:
I believe Newsgroups should not allow unknown names to be used in the
media, for greater public trust in our scientific debates.
I believe the administrators of newsgroups should request some
information about the writers upon registration.
They can provide secure sites for collecting the information, such as
address, SSN, education, etc.
It is appropriate to request about professional background of writers.
What I mean, is that these information are confidential, only the
users name such as John Doe will be surfaced on the postings.
This is essential for the health of these debates.
I am afraid you are confusing a university BBS and a unmoderated
Usenet group - such as sci.math
If you want a guaranteed respect from guaranteed known posters having
a guaranteed scientific degree in a math science then the recipe is
siple: do not post at unmoderated Usenet groups. Actually do not post
at the Usenet at all, because even moderated newsgroup do not give you
the level of "respect protection" you are seeking for.
Make your own forum with your own identification rules in Google
Groups or Yahoo! Groups free of charge:
http://groups.google.com/groups/create?hl=en
http://groups.yahoo.com/start?stage=1&sub=/Science/Mathematics
Withing the Usenet rules and traditions: please be so kind to go to
hell with your sick fantasies.
