Let the scripture talk...
It does - preaching hatred, intolerance and bigotry. A
swell of a
book.
Yet when you come across a "crank" you disagree with instead of just
disagreeing, giving a logical rebuttal, and then going away when he
refuses to change, you instead insult him. Yet you then go and rail
against someone preaching religions that preach hatred and attack and
stuff... unless you think "less extreme" forms of hatred that don't
involve physical violence are OK, but they aren't...

Relax, Mike3. Basti has shown, time and again, that he's
impervious to all types of reasoning; you might just as well try to reason
with a slug. It's far more fan to give him a tongue lashing every so
often.
It's still wrong.
Granted, it's not as wrong as killing people who don't accept
Islam, or any other belief for that matter (doesn't even have to
be a religion -- ANY viewpoint or belief!), no no no no no
no no, but it's still not *good*, either. Why is it wrong?
Because you are still creating bad blood and negativity and
taking delight in others' plight.
If he doesn't listen to reason, then there is no point arguing
any further. Going away and leaving him in his folly is the best
approach.
Especially considering I'd highly doubt he's a massive danger
to the entire world.
He's just a guy with some silly stupid notions about math, and
so is it really a dire, pressing need to sway him? I don't see
it as so. Much better to just post the rational argument so
others will see the error of his claim, then leave him. As
anything else, even disregarding the morality issues, is simply
a waste of time and effort. Closed minds are closed minds
and nothing will sway them other than their own choice. And
if nobody will debate or respond to him any more then maybe
he'll eventually just throw in the towel, so there's a practical
reason as well.
As for Islam - well, what can one say other than it is a stinking
piece of ***, which has certainly no place in a world where freedom and
critical thinking are cherished?
Unrestrained freedom(*) is not a good thing, however, but yes, Islam
has no place in today's age any more. It was meant for an older
more primitive society(**) and even then not for the whole world.
The society and time it was for are now all gone. Plus it has been
corrupted and perverted from it's original form by various dogmas
piled on top. It is expired, rotted, decayed, dead, whatever you
will.
(*) = freedom without responsibility. For every freedom there is
an equally weighty responsibility. That responsibility must be
enforced by the person with the freedom in question.
(**) and one where killing and war would have been acceptable. Now,
though, we as in the whole of the world are supposed to have peace,
and as a corollary, killing and war are most unacceptable, or they
should be. Since Islam permits killing and war, it is obviously
past it's time.
