Laplace transform as an algebraic tool

I have used Laplace transforms to obtain algebraic solutions by taking
advantage of the "s domain" and partial fractions. This has worked
although the equations were polynomials, in the time domain, rather
than differential equations.
Does anyone have any experience with doing this? It seems to "work
faster."
