what do you do if you spot an error in an article?

say also you are not very sure about it. Say, a significant error-not typos.
You can:
1) ask in a forum like this. The problem is that the context can be uninteresting for third parties or too complicated to explain
2) find the author of the article's address( e-mail address) and write to him, asking for clarification or point out the error.
