Idiot. Any given proton will collide with at most one other
proton. We expect 10-20 collisions each time the beams cross. Each
collision is totally independent of any other collision. There is no
additive effect.

You should answer legitimate questions without the ivory tower

The protons are held apart by electrostatic repulsion, it takes a _lot_
of technology to keep the beam from flying apart.

No, it has to encounter another proton first.
Then the answer should properly be: Yes, but it has to encounter one
BEFORE it decays, which you imply above is unlikely.
We're talking
(IIRC) timescales of something like 10^-34 seconds here (and of course
O(10) collisions per interaction, times the probability for BH formation)..
I'd sooner expect the pink elephants...
I guess now we know what drives cranks in the first place.
