Good advice in the posts above.

Your weight is a major factor as is being a non-smoker. Also, the exercise
you get should be cardio in nature - gardening doesn't count - like running,
brisk walking, cycling etc. at least every other day.

Watch your diet for saturated fats and trans-fats. I fount in my case that
oatmeat is very effective in lowering lipids. I have a bowl of cooked (not
flavored or instant) oatmeat every day and I snack on almonds.
