Definitely less than fully competent.
When we became very concerned about the memory loss he told the doctor, and
was told "What, do they think it is early Alzheimers? Well, there's no cure
anyway, so FORGET IT! haha" Never looked for a cause - by the time he was
off the Lipitor, long after that conversation, NP testing confirmed his
short term memory to be below the 1 percentile.
When the expert determined the cause was Lipitor, and I called his primary
care physician (the one who prescribed the Lipitor and did not do the
testing, and did not look into the cause of the memory loss, peripheral
neuropathy, pain, fatigue, weakness, etc.), I told him that we needed an
appointment with him to discuss getting him off the Lipitor, monitoring him,
and getting him better. His response: "We don't need to talk about
anything. Just hide the pills from him."
