> >>What kinds of recipes do you want?

Yes this is what I want: simplicity. The way I look at it, with my
cholesterol level and the odds I've got maybe 8-10 years. Really. Just
being matter of fact here. And I sure as hell do not want to spend it
shopping cooking cleaning. I've done all that Bob. To someone else's
needs and requrements, and it was lucky for me I found pleasure in it.

Have since I was eight and my brothers killed themselves laughing at
the meals I made for them in our fatherless, mom working, family. The
eight year old sister was the cook. (Fried pickerel, mashed potatoes, a
stool to stand on to reach the stove and counter, an apron that reached
to my ankles)

So here's what I want:

I would be so happy for 10 realistic suggestions for simple entrees
which I will eat swathed in sleeping bags on my balcony watching the
night sky, or the sad commuters, or out of a container on a trail, or
prior to or after my workout, and needing only a fork or spoon (okay
once in a while a knife). I am so sick of my repertoire. I often think
I'll stand outside the supermarket with my list and beg someone,
anyone, to exchange lists with me.

My typical breakfast is oat groats which I soak overnight and then cook
in the morning, with about 1/3 cup plain yogurt and some fruit
sprinkled with toasted wheat germ and flax meal. Sometimes if I'm
really hungry and know I need the extra boost of protein I'll stir in a
tablespoon of almond or peanut butter or a tablespoon of walnuts,
almonds or chopped brazil nuts.

My lunch is some kind of bean thing or soup: dal, lentil soup, borscht,
French Canadian pea soup, carrot soup--like that with a plate of
vegetables and fruit, sometimes a bit of cheese. Greens and grains
salads, dressed with EVOO and balsamic or flavoured vinegars. Maybe if
I've been good, congee with almost raw green vegetables, hot green
peppers slivered, chopped green onions, cloves of garlic slivered on
almost everything. Hot peppers and garlic slivers added at the last so
they are not "cooked". All these I make, sometimes using chicken broth.
I avoid cream soups or soups with cheese, and meat soups because I
don't want to eat meat every day, as would happen then.

As snacks I eat fresh fruit, plates of raw vegs with balsamic vinegar
and kosher salt. Nuts and seeds. 85 percent dark chocolate by the
ounce, cocoa, mint tea, water, coffee. I eat rather than drink my
fruit. Lots and lots of fruits
and vegetables.

Brown rice and whole grain pasta, simply sauced or simple stir fries.

Plain whole grain breads, esp like the German slices that look like
empacted barn scrappings.

Fish. I mostly eating canned, because fresh fish and shellfish is soooo
expensive but today I bought four tiger prawns (tiny) for my congee and
I have occasionally bought a side of wild sockeye and frozen portions
in baggies with water.

I like what you and your daughter ate. Both ideas. (you fraud I know
what you're doing you know... but love it...the writer as Chef).

The above should give you some ideas of my tastes. I've left
dinner/supper for you. You have already given me 2 dinners. I need 8
more.

I do eat meat. I will likely cook 2 servings (or more sometimes) and
freeze others in portions. I will for example freeze the pork steak
(likely substitute chicken breast) with a drizzle of au jus.

Maybe there's something you need to know I've left out. Ask. I like
everything and am only contstrained by my high cholesterol and wish to
lose weight, and workout schedule now.

I have no barbecue or top of stove grill and only a very old basic
microwave (not electronic). No gadgets but a Cuisinart and hand mixer.
Go Pastorio. Feed me.
