I don't wish for anyone to love Chung less. While I find his behavior
execrable, it's the old hate the sin, love the sinner deal.
What you're seeing as cruelty I see as character definition and
explication. It didn't come from nowhere. Chung's behavior, his
relentless ignoring of the wishes of anyone else, his relentless
malice as demonstrated by the nastily loaded FAQ he posts every so
often and then congratulates himself for, the general tone and tenor
of his writing, the constant effort to play "can you top this," the
outright falsity of so many of his claims - all conspire to create a
sadly clear picture of the man.

And this sort of out-of-touch absurdity is what triggers the
characterizations. If Chung limited himself to truth, demonstrable
truth, there would be no issue to take with him. It's his mean
spiritedness and deliberate provocations that cause so many to call
him on them. He is utterly unable to see that it's his actions that
have created the climate of dismissal and pejoration that he faces. In
his frantic hyperreligiosity he sees any negative comment about him as
some sort of religious attack, or at least he says that. And he sees
any agreement with anything he says as endorsement of everything he says.

This sanctimonious tone is another of his less-than-endearing traits.

What a silly sentence. What a silly sentiment.
