speaking of the nyt:

"The New York Times on the Web, which is owned by The New York Times
Company, has been considering charging for years and is expected to
make an announcement soon about its plans. In January, The Times's Web
site had 1.4 million unique daily visitors. Its daily print circulation
averaged 1,124,000 in 2004, down from its peak daily circulation of
1,176,000 in 1993.

Executives at The Times have suggested that the paper, which already
charges for its crossword puzzle, news alerts and archives online, may
start charging for other portions of its content, but would not follow
the Journal model, which charges online readers $79 a year for
everything."

as long as they have judith miller on the payroll, they can charge
$1000 a year for everything, including every $10 for every insight
gleaned from said everything, as far as i'm concerned. few things will
help us more in the primaries than to take the times off the online
map. just the mere fact they're even considering it... lol the
demand curve for something that costs nothing compared to something
that costs even a mere dime...well, picture el capitan and you'll get
an idea. and none dissimilar in grade to what the nyt used to be, and
what it is now. home of judith miller.

note to nyt: charge us $40 for everything. please. in fact, we'll
rally the online world to give you $20 each if you promise to charge
$40 to everyone else. or how about we give you $100 per year each for
charging $10 each for your political unit and only that godforsaken
unit! i am so ready to deal with these people.
