Sharon,
It doesn't look like anyone has shown that low cholesterol causes
either depression or aggression. It may also be the case that
depressives/aggressives have shorter thumbs. Genes affect multiple
things, and there are lots of odd patterns out there. I guess
that's why many of the abstracts refer to low cholesterol as a
"marker" for suicide risk or violence.
There also seems to be little evidence on whether changing the
cholesterol level with diet or drugs or whatever would change the
propensity for depression or violence.
I'll tell you that if someone stopped me from eating chocolate,
good steaks, and my favorite cheese, I'd become very depressed and
then I'd kill them.
