I don't think the magnesium from aspirin is effective at this. The magnesium
isn't well absorbed (that is why magnesium citrate is used in bowel preps
for CTs, colonscopy and barium enemas). And what is absorbed will be
excreted by the kidneys before it can make a significant change in the
magnesium level of the the blood.
Magnesium is also used as a treatment for eclampsia and preeclampsia. I
don't recall the doses used, but I think they were IV drips with a few grams
of magnesium going into the veins. Far more than you can get orally.
