I'd state this differently:

1- they found statins did not reduce or increase dementia
2- we know from other sources statins cause cognitive damage,
memory loss, dementia

Conclusion: the degree to which statins cause dementia or changes
in dementia-related cognitive tests must either be extremely
slight or else be offset by statin-afforded protection from
non-statin causes of dementia.
