One big difference is that hospitals in the US include a whopping
overhead cost that is associated with treating patients who have
no insurance and are unable to pay. In Canada, that cost is borne
by the taxpayers.

There is also a strikingly higher cost in the US of providing
medical services due to the cost of malpractice insurance.
