Absolutely. Diet and Aerobic Exercise can have wondrous and long-term
effects on blood pressure (It surely did for me).

I haven't heard of blood pressure medicines creating a dependency. Perhaps
Sharon or Zee can cite a a study.
> Do they impact an excercise regimen?
Absolutely. Blood pressure medications can lead to fatique or drowsiness
which can effectively limit the duration of an exercise session. Since you
didn't ask about statins or Zetia - we'll just leave well enough alone!

beneficial effects of exercise?
There is NO substitute for exercise, at least in my opinion. Exercise
reconditions the body to allow for natural improvements; medicines, for the
most part, simply attempt to compensate for a deficiency, and
overcompensates in other areas that didn't need to be addressed, thereby
causing side effects (and, possibly, long-term health problems).

able to safely enjoy a less restrictive diet?
Blood pressure medicines, or any medicines for that matter, are not designed
to allow one to practice a more unhealthy life style! All medicines have
side effects, so if you can practice healthy eating habits and get plenty of
exercise you get the long-term benefits without the side effects. Reduce
sodium, saturated fat, limit processed foods, etc., get regular and varied
exercise, and check your progress in six months.
