Blood pressure spikes cause

In March this year I was hospitalized with recurrent chest pain (previous
MI, 7 blockages, 4 stents). BP was over 200 and pulse was 150. ECG showed
left bundle branch blockage. Stress test with imaging showed nothing and
was sent home. One month later at cardiologists no LBBB was seen on new
ECG. In July same pain, ER showed BP again at 200 and pulse > 120. Stress
test this time showed poor blood flow to left heart (same side as previous
damage). A follow up angiogram showed no blockage. It is now suspected
that the BP is spiking and causing the pain instead of vice versa. A 24
hour BP monitor showed good BP. About once per week I still get what appear
to be spikes in BP. It will go up to 160/100 and then drop to 80/60. This
goes on for several hours before it settles down to a normal 120/70. Pulse
during this time reads > 100. Could this be caused by a problem in the BP
control system? (Had a stroke 2001 which effected speech and right side).
