Re: FDA OKs Pfizer's Lipitor for use in diabetics

Re: What message are you referring to?
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Pfizer Inc. said on Tuesday U.S. regulators have
approved its blockbuster cholesterol drug Lipitor to reduce the risk of
stroke and heart attack in diabetic patients.

Pfizer said the approval is for patients with type 2, or adult onset,
diabetes who have no signs of heart disease but have multiple risk
factors for the condition.

Common risk factors include high cholesterol, high blood pressure, a
family history of heart disease, smoking and obesity.

Re: Do you assume people don't know that over eating and lack of
exercise are good for you?
I have a close friend that is type 2 diabetic. He fully understands
that his overeating and lack of exercise caused his condition. Does he
try to change these habits to improve his health and to spend years
with his wife and grandcholdren? NO - He overeats, eats the wrong
foods, gets irritated at his wife when reminded he's eating too much.

So, out of the kindness of the drugs companies, my friend can push his
health to the max, take drugs to control his sugar, take drugs to make
sure his cholesterol stays under control and hopefully not drop dead of
a heart attack.

themselves.

In this situation Pharmaceuticals are there to "make $$$".
