I wa taking a combination of the above and Candesarten for hypertension,
during the second year of taking this my platelet count started reducing and
at approx 2 years I lost my voice which became chronic and follwing two
visits to a consultant in ENT was advised that he would like to schedule
further investigative surgery. I went badk to my GP and tried as a last
resort to stop the Candesarten, following 2 weeks no difference, after
restarting tried stopping the Monoxidine and my voice (lost for nearly 8
months) returned in 2 days ! I had ultransound to check general
hypertyension causes and they identified an enlarged spleen (15cm) this
probably was the cause of the platelet count reduction. 2 further scans later
6 months apart my platelets have returned to normal (slowly) and the spleen
today some 15 months after stopping Monoxidine has reduced to less than 14cm
todate.
I am an IT consultant not medical and this could all be irrelevant however
studying related side effects I have not found this to be recorded and
thought it could be useful for reference.
If there is a correct place to record such curiosities then I would be happy
to do so with my medical records to support.
