Gosh. Why were they sued?

In every case? I know of at least one in which they ignored a danger raised by one of the investigators, brought a questionable vaccine to market, crippled folks, then withdrew it after suits were filed, thereby saving others from a similar, crippling fate. The FDA review committee made it clear that they were uncomfortable approving LymeRix, but felt they had no choice because all the right paperwork had been filed.

I knew of at least two folks in the trial who claimed their adverse reaction reports were rejected by investigators.

It's not all about money every time. It's often/usually about injuries and harm. When they can't give you your health back, you demand money.
