Amiodarone and Exercise

I have been taking Amiodarone since early this year.
It has been doing a perfect job keeping me in sinus
after a single shock electrical cardioversion. My
dose has been reduced to 200 mg 5/wk.
I have read that Amiodarone reduces pulse rate, the ability
of the heart to increase pulse rate, as well as weakening
the pumping action. My pulse is very hard to detect for
BP readings. I can't get over 140 bpm on a treadmill test.
The government wants 160 bpm and 9 minutes of Bruce.
I got 140 and 6:50.
It takes me twice as long to hike up Multnomah falls as
it did before.
I am getting grief because of this decreased performance.
My cardiologist says I'm doing as well as can be expected
for one on Amiodarone. How can I convince those who pass
judgement on me of this?
