Liver test 2X normal is OK?

My cardiologist said the liver test while taking statins is all right if 2X
the maximum blood test guideline and the patient only has to be monitored.
He went on to say that having such a high reading on the liver test shows
the statin is working.
My previous blood test was quite good with normal liver test result and
following results:
TC: 136
HDL: 47
LDL: 75
Triglycerides: 68
During the past six months I changed my diet and had to stop using the
treadmill (injury) and blood test results last week:
TC: 148
HDL: 35
LDL: 96
Triglycerides: 86
I had a bypass 7 years ago. I am not diabetic and never had a heart attack.
During my visit with the cardiologist today, he wanted to increase my 10 mg
of Zocor to 20 mg. I suggested we wait until the next blood test to allow
me to get back on the diet and treadmill, which I started again just over 2
weeks ago. He said if my LDL is over 75, he is going to up my Zocor to 20
mg. My liver test result this time was 2 points below the maximum and that
prompted me to inquire about the danger of increasing Zocor. Apparently my
cardiologist is not concerned even if the liver test is twice the normal
range as long as there are no symptoms, and I guess that means muscle pain.
Opinions?
