Sharon,
You just don't get it. You are now even misrepresenting my statements. A person who is so poor at representing facts and so confused and whose thinking is so distorted shouldn't be posting to a newsgroup where people are coming for advice.
First, a full disclosure (Title, Author) of the abstract & study, with a few words of emphasis that are direct quotes is anything but misrepresentation. It is pointing out a pertinent aspect that merits attention and contemplation, without violating copyrights by printing the entire article available elsewhere. You, as a reader who is interested enough not to have ignored the post, are expected to be an educated human being and follow up, and as an educated thinking person, you are expected to form your own opinions. Your opinion need not match mine - and I certainly do not want to pattern my opinions after yours. (However, you would do well not to make factually false claims about the population in the study - that would fall under misrepresentation in my view.)
It's not a full disclosure when you cut and paste only those parts that you think prove your point, distort the study/abstract, and when you take the point of the abstract out of context. This is downright misleading and in the wrong hands, can be used in a way that can cause harm.
You don't think it's advice Sharon ... but you are thinking in a distorted way and just don't have the ability to step back and view your "contributions" impartially. While you don't think of it as advice, the mere fact that you distort the facts and twist these abstracts around in a way that supports a certain position ... and then don't take the time to acknowledge that other points of view exist ... and then present volumes of this in a newsgroup where relatively uninformed patients and their families come FOR ADVICE ... means that you are essentially offering a viewpoint and information that could be interpreted or taken by someone as valid ... and that could very well be used as advice. That's the part that your missing.
Second, I have offered absolutely no ADVICE in any of today's posts, just FACTS with sufficient information for readers to form their own opinions.
But in your passion, you're losing sight of the fact that bottom line ... some people who take drugs experience side effects ... and statins are no exception.
What do you know? you actually get it! Some people who take statins experience side effects.
Why did it take so many posts for you to finally acknowledge this?
Again you are misrepresenting my posts. Take a look back at them. In fact, take a look back at prior threads from months back. I've acknowledged this all along. You've missed it because you are so deep into your own world of anti-statin hatred that you miss things.
Simple concept.
Illumninating some of the actual SPECIFIC categories of such STATIN ADVERSE EFFECTS should not be controversial. People need to know of their existence in order to avoid becoming disabled by them. This is a lesson learned from experience - specific experience with statin adverse effects.
Not a problem. I don't have a problem with this at all. As long as you use words and language that indicate to others that statins have adverse side effects, and you properly represent the % of patients in which they occur. Which is not what you've been doing. You've been taking abstracts and studies completely out of context and drawing misleading conclusions that are downright lies.
Glad you finally see the light.
Larry
