According to Barry S. Kendler, PhD a Professor of Biology teaching at
Manhattan College:
....
When Dr. Kendler was asked why he believed CoQ10 is not routinely
recommended in patients taking statin medications he stated that, "I
believe that physician ignorance of its critical role in offsetting
adverse side effects of statin therapy, especially in high doses is
responsible. This will change in time, but patients need guidance
now." In addition he added, "The pharmaceutical industry has not
been helpful in this context, although they had full knowledge of the
effects of statins on CoQ10 and the possible consequences of this, even
before statins were marketed. In fact, one of the companies has a
patent on including CoQ10 with the statin, but chose not to market the
combination, possibly for financial reasons."
