Cholesterol

How bad is high cholesterol ? There is official story about LDL, HDL
etc. Then there is cholesterol myth ( Dr Ravnskov ) group saying it all
makes no sense, and whole theory is wrong. Does anybody have any real
data, personal experiences or from people they know ?
( Looking for correlation of high/low LDL/HDL and cardio problems ).
