The evidence will come on the LORD's day of judgment.
Cop out... weasel.
No.
Yes. You claim to have evidence, and then claim it just hasn't
happened yet.
The only evidence for a future event is when it happens. Salvation is
prophesied throughout the Holy Bible.
Yes, and Jesus' name was supposed to be "Emmanuel,"
(Matthew 1:20-25)
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him
in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take
Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the
Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give HIM the
name Jesus, because HE will save HIS people from their sins." All this
took place to fulfill what the LORD had said through the prophet: "The
virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will
call him Immanuel"-which means, "God with us." When Joseph woke up,
he did what the angel of the LORD had commanded him and took Mary home
as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a
son. And he gave HIM the name Jesus.
It's funny how different translator's disagree over what the inspired
word of god is supposed to mean; you'd think an omniscient, omnipotent
being could be a little clearer. It's also funny how those translators
have to change stuff to force it to fit.
Matthew 1:23 KJV
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and
they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with
us.
NASB
BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY
SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL," which translated means, "GOD WITH US."
MSG
20-23While he was trying to figure a way out, he had a dream. God's
angel spoke in the dream: "Joseph, son of David, don't hesitate to get
married. Mary's pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. God's Holy Spirit has
made her pregnant. She will bring a son to birth, and when she does,
you, Joseph, will name him Jesus-'God saves'-because he will save
his people from their sins." This would bring the prophet's embryonic
sermon to full term:
Watch for this-a virgin will get pregnant and bear a son;
They will name him Immanuel (Hebrew for "God is with us").
AMP
Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and
they shall call His name Emmanuel--which, when translated, means, God
with us.
NLT
"Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and he will be called Immanuel
(meaning, God is with us)."
ESV
"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel"
KJ21
"Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a Son, and
they shall call His name Emmanuel" (which being interpreted is, "God
with us").
CEV
"A virgin will have a baby boy, and he will be called Immanuel," which
means "God is with us."
ASV
Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
And they shall call his name Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God
with us.
NKJV
"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they
shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with
us."
YLT
`Lo, the virgin shall conceive, and she shall bring forth a son, and
they shall call his name Emmanuel,' which is, being interpreted `With
us [he is] God.'
HCSB
See, the virgin will become pregnant
and give birth to a son,
and they will name Him Immanuel,
which is translated "God is with us."
DARBY
Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is, being interpreted,
'God with us.'
NIRV
"The virgin is going to have a baby. She will give birth to a son. And
he will be called Immanuel."(Isaiah 7:14) The name Immanuel means "God
with us."
NLV
He said, "The young woman, who has never had a man, will give birth to
a Son. They will give Him the name Immanuel. This means God with us."
WYC
Lo! a virgin shall have in [the] womb, and she shall bear a son, and
they shall call his name Emmanuel, that is to say [that is
interpreted], God with us.
HCSB
See, the virgin will become pregnant
and give birth to a son,
and they will name Him Immanuel , (A)
which is translated "God is with us."
WE
The prophet said, `A young woman who has not slept with a man is going
to have a baby son. His name will be Emmanuel. That means "God is with
us." '
In fact, I only find ONE translation that uses the name "Jesus." I
wonder why that is. It's funny that in that translation you chose, the
original "prophecy" uses "Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:13-17 MSG
So Isaiah told him, "Then listen to this, government of David! It's bad
enough that you make people tired with your pious, timid hypocrisies,
but now you're making God tired. So the Master is going to give you a
sign anyway. Watch for this: A girl who is presently a virgin will get
pregnant. She'll bear a son and name him Immanuel (God-With-Us). By the
time the child is twelve years old, able to make moral decisions, the
threat of war will be over. Relax, those two kings that have you so
worried will be out of the picture. But also be warned: God will bring
on you and your people and your government a judgment worse than
anything since the time the kingdom split, when Ephraim left Judah. The
king of Assyria is coming!"
God got a prophecy wrong? Huh.
Just as GOD changed HIS mind about Nineveh (Jonah), it seems HE had
also changed HIS mind about the name HIS Son would have while HE was on
earth. Jesus is a more gentile name (Greek) and means the LORD saves,
which does fit quite well with the theme of HIS life on earth being a
mission to save us (Jews and Gentiles alike) from our deadly sins.
How can a perfect being change its mind? Was it wrong before?
and he was supposed
to return while some of the people attending his lectures were still
alive, for just two amusing examples.
Those who are dead to the world are alive in Christ.
Those who reject reality in favor of comforting fairy tales are insane.
So you're using an outdated,
demonstrably erroneous text that the authors can't even be bothered to
cross check reference references in, to support your insane, non
sequitur, supernatural assertions. Which is especially funny in light
of your recently failed earthquake prediction.
Actually, a great earthquake did indeed happen the night before the
predicted solar eclipse. My informing you about the predictions of
others does not make them my predictions.
You're a funny guy. You predicted a great earthquake the day of the
eclipse. You were wrong, and are trying to force a minor earthquake
that happened a day before to fit your prediction. Do you do the same
sort of weasling with your patients, Andy? Why does the KJV say
"Emmanuel"? Did god change his mind after it was published?
Your patients must have so much confidence in you.
They do.
You must keep your arrogance, ignorance, and insanity from them, then.
If only you'd be that courteous on usenet. If only you were honest,
people wouldn't get so disgusted with you.
